Research Methods
The goal of the project is to co-create a sustainable, sovereign, just and secure food system in Lachine.
We take a critical-participatory-action-research approach and have just completed the first phase of the project.
Phase 1 – In the summer of 2020, students from Food and Sustainability interviewed the community food organizations in Lachine. They asked the food organizations how they fit into the Lachine community food system. They also asked the community food groups about their needs and assets.
In the fall of 2020, students from Urban Agriculture developed the website, designed the charts, produced the graphs and edited the information from the first reports (for accuracy and consistency).
Phase 2 – We are organizing a public meeting for the community food organizations in Lachine to discuss findings of this project and to encourage groups to form and strengthen partnerships.
